(30th Sept 2009) Ulster Society Offers Export Master Class
Northern Ireland businesses were offered a master class in exploring and winning new business in export markets today by Chartered Accountants Ireland Ulster Society.
Forty-five local businesses were present to hear from experts and specialists in export markets. Among those presenting were Mark McCusker, CEO of Antrim-based technology company Texthelp which has extended its network to over 20 countries.
The legal issues surrounding exports such as agents’ rights, distribution rights and international product liability were examined by Alan Taylor of Arthur Cox, one of Ireland’s largest law firms.
Vicky Kell, Director, Trade Division, Invest Northern Ireland outlined her organisations’ “Passport to Export” services and programmes to assist exporters from Northern Ireland. Services such as export skills and knowledge workshops, business information services, market visits, market entry support and in-market support are all available through Invest Northern Ireland.
The event was the first in a series of seminars offered to Chartered Accountants working in business and industry. The series aims to offer expert support in terms of the technical and management skills required during a difficult time for so many areas of local business.
Kevin Kingston, Chairman of Chartered Accountants Ireland Ulster Society said: “This seminar is an important part of the commitment our Society and our profession is making to help the local economy to build for recovery.
“We’re delighted to link up with Invest Northern Ireland and with local companies which have been there and done it in terms of export success. We want to do whatever we can to help businesses in Northern Ireland to find the information, assistance and inspiration to win more business right around the world.
“It is of paramount importance that when the global recovery does happen, Northern Ireland companies are ready to innovate, grow and find new markets.”
