Chartered Accountants Dig Deep for Kids Charity (11 February 2010)

Ulster’s Chartered Accountants have put their hands in their pockets to support the Northern Ireland Cancer Fund for Children (NICFC).

Chartered Accountants Ulster Society presented the £5,500 raised at its Charity Lunch to the NICFC’s Senior & Corporate Fundraiser, Joanne Steele. The charity event also raised over £10,000 worth of toys for the Salvation Army and St. Vincent de Paul. 

Kevin Kingston, Chairman of Chartered Accountants Ulster Society said: “The Charity Lunch is always one of our most successful and enjoyable events. It’s a tremendous opportunity for the local business community to come together and help to make a difference for local kids.

“We’re delighted to have raised this amount for a local charity which is close to many people’s hearts. NICFC offers such an impressive range of practical, emotional and financial support directly to those people in Northern Ireland who are dealing with childhood cancer. I believe that in this period of economic difficulty it’s especially important that we help out where we can.”

Joanne Steele, Senior Corporate Fundraiser for NICFC said: “Every week in Northern Ireland another two families are told the devastating news their child has cancer, we offer support to these children, their siblings and parents at a time when it is most desperately needed.

“As we receive very little government support NICFC rely on the generosity of local businesses and the wider Northern Ireland community. Without donations like this from Chartered Accountants Ulster Society we could not continue to provide vital services needed for families nursing a child with cancer in Northern Ireland.”
